Gideon Schwartz and Rich Olsen, both of who are firefighters, started HMR in 2011. As firefighters, they know the importance of physical fitness, brotherhood and camaraderie, so they set out to share these values with the public. Since both of these men love running and fire, they concocted the HARDCORE Mudd Run in their barbaric minds.

Mud run events have become popular throughout the country and abroad. The men and women that run these crazy events can be in ranging degrees of fitness; from the highly athletic to everyday people looking to push themselves to the edge. You, wildly adventurous men and women, are a new generation of individuals who love to push yourselves to the extreme.

Running in a mud run event should not be about competing against the person next to you but instead competing against yourself with an "I will not give up" attitude. These events make a person find out how much he or she can endure physically and mentally. Once a person reaches the breaking point, that’s where the event really comes to life.

HMR events are neither a competition nor a race but instead about the person next to you; helping your team and other fellow mud runners through the course. Each event will push a person to his or her limits in a 5 to 10 mile mud run with a unique combination of land and water obstacles designed to promote skill building, camaraderie, physical fitness, mental stamina, social communication and interaction.

A portion of the proceeds from each HMR event will be donated to The Children's Miracle Network... "Helping To Make Miracles Happen Every Day".
